Weatherization Assistance Program and Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program/WAP/

(WAP/LIHEAP)

WAP and LIHEAP/WAP assists low-income households in reducing their high fuel costs while contributing to the national energy savings. Weatherization measures provided will reduce heat loss and conserve energy costs by improving the warmth and cooling of a dwelling. It does not matter if you own or rent. The program gives high priority to:

  • The elderly

  • Individuals with disabilites

  • And households receiving energy assistance through LIHEAP

 

LOW-INCOME HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (LIHEAP)

Liheap  is for low-income people in need of energy assistance. This program  operates in the winter months to assist  with fuel bills. Applications are normally taken in August and September and assistance is received in mid  winter for the regular heating program. Applications are taken year round or until funds are exhausted for expedited assistance (emergency). Applications are taken in July for the summer cooling program.
